Plant the seeds early in life...
"Because we can give children two things, one is roots, the other wings." Posted by Hello

In order to acheive success in school and in life, a child needs healthy social and emotional roots such as; having self-control, responsibility, self-reliance, patience, and strong relationships with parents, teachers and peers.

In order to build and strengthen these roots, children must learn social skills in key areas such as; body boundaries, understanding feelings, problem solving, anger management, and building friendships with others.

And, that is what Planting Seeds is all about...

Every child can benefit from learning these skills... Posted by Hello

The Curriculum has detailed step by step activities that can be taught in a group setting at a school program or at home with a parent. Each skill has 3-4 group activities, full with a descriptive rationale behind teaching the skill , a materials list, follow-up activities, parent letters, key language information sheets, certificates for children, and adorable child friendly posters pertaining to the curriculum.
"This curriculum was not only effective with the children in my classroom, but with my family as well. Our conversations at home have become very effective. The ideas are so simple and children grasp it quickly and can use it. So simple, yet so powerful!" -a particpating teacher

And most importantly, IT IS FUN!!!!
***This curriculum can be purchased in black and white or color!!***

Planting Seeds is a comprehensive curriculum promoting emotional and social competence and preventing or reducing behavioral and emotional problems in children. It gives children learning tools to develop essential social, emotional and problem-solving skills and enhances parent, teacher, and peer relationships.

The curriculum is designed for children in preschool through first grade, but has been taught effectively to schoolagers as well. The curriculum was tested by therapists in a therapeutic preschool setting, then piloted in numerous traditional preschool programs to find the positive, skill-based approach works for all children. Planting Seeds emphasizes on learning, identifying feelings, expressing emotions appropriately, and managing behaviors.

All aspects of the curriculum promote social and emotional competence in children. Each component of this curriculum teaches lifelong skills, not only to the children, but to the teachers and parents as well. Everyone in a child’s life can begin using these techniques to enhance their own lives as well as create a more positive environment in which the child can flourish.

Let children see things through different eyes... Posted by Hello

"As a preschool teacher, I was in a desperate situation with a "problem child" in my classroom and was unsure of what to do. From this one phone call to Torrey regarding this curriculum, my whole idea of being a teacher has changed (for the better). The ideas that were given to me are invaluable, and has given me the tools to make a difference and connect with my children on a whole different level. It has helped me adapt to the emotional and physical needs of my children at the same time making my job easier and more rewarding."

Learning important skills can still be fun!
(Like using bubbles to learn about body boundaries!) Posted by Hello
"Our children; preschool age and older have been successful in learning the social skills and have shown growth in their ability to handle their personal space and respect others."
"Recently, we had a parent meeting regarding school readiness and spoke about the importance of social/emotional readiness that needs to be addressed before other learning takes place. The parents were at the meeting talking about how their children came home using the terms from the curriculum and were impressed that their children have these skills that they as adults are still struggling with."
